Here are some cute and quick valentine's day cards I made for my son to take for his classmates. I pulled ideas from many talented fellow scrapbookers, to make these. I also wanted to make some decorated suckers for him to share. I bought your regular red heart shaped suckers and covered them in a simple black, white and red. The cards are 3 x 4 inches big and the sucker covers are 2 inches x 4 3/4 inches (scored at 2 1/4 and 2 1/2).

My oldest son, Jordan, turned 5 on January 2nd, so of course I had to make him a great card to go with his present. Jordan is really into Space and the planets right now, so for his gift I got him a solar system mobile (he loves it!). I used the new paper 'You Rock' in the current catalog. The card ended up being similar to the one I made for another boy, but I like the result. I embossed the green planet on a transparency, and added some more little stars to the one B&T paper. Although it is hard to see I used some foam strips to pop up the scalloped circle that the alien is on as well as put some liquid glass on his eyes.

Alien Celebration

A few Weeks ago was my friend's sons 5th birthday. What 5 year old doesn't like aliens and monsters, I know my kids do, so I decided to go with that theme for his birthday card and was quite pleased with the results. I used liquid glass on the aliens eyes for a bit of pop and shine although it is hard to see from the picture. I didn't have a large enough scalloped circle cutter so I cut a slightly larger circle then I wanted and got my corner rounder and created my own, I also did the same for the scalloped rectangle behind the alien. The colours used are black, white daisy, sunflower, dutch blue, olive and outdoor denim.

Motorcycle Man

Here is a card I made for my cousin for his birthday. It has taken me forever to get a motorcycle stamp, so I was excited to make this card. The colours used are Black, Dutch Blue, Desert Sand and White Daisy. On the Desert sand Cardstock I used the Cuttlebug Argyle Embossing folder and sanded the image. I used Spot on Backgrounds the make the black and white patterned paper. I decided to give my sewing machine a dusting and stitched on this card with black thread. The Motorcycle image is by clear stamps, and I coloured it in with CTMH makers. I like the way this card turned out and I hope he will too!

Here is an elegant thank you card that I made just because I was in a card making mood. The two colours I used were twilight and white daisy. I used the Cuttlebug Textile Texture Embossing Folder. I then mixed twilight re-inker with pearl paint, and used my rubber brayer to highlight the embossed image. I used clear buttons and painted the back of them with the extra tinted pearl paint. On the flower I also used pearl paint to give it a little shimmer. All items are CTMH unless noted.

Well hopefully everyone had a wonderfully spooky Halloween. My little pirate and monster sure did! My oldest son had a Halloween party in his kindergarten class this past Friday and was asked to bring in some treats. So we bought some fun Halloween cookies and I made some quick and festive tags to go with them. I got to use a few stamps from one of my newer stamps 'spellbound' that came out in the current CTMH catalogue. The colours I used were black, orange, sunny yellow, and citrus leaf, (colour inspiration from Jeanette Lynton's blog).

50th Birthday Guestbook

My mom had her 50th birthday on October 3. My Dad, my sisters and I planned a party for her. I wanted her to have a nice guestbook, but since I am a scrapbooker it of course needed to be a photo guestbook. Rather then just having regular portraits of the guests I thought we could get some wigs of the 60/70's more popular hair styles to spice up the pictures.
I got an 8x8 album from Micheals for the guestbook. For paper I used the boom-di-ada creative basics paper and magic moments paper pack. The featured colours are hollyhock, sweetleaf, colonial white, indian corn blue and cocoa. Sorry for the picture quality, I had a terrible time with the lighting.

Wow, it has been a long time since I updated! Life has been so busy these last few months. My oldest son started JK and he is not enjoying it so far, I had my Mom's 50th birthday party to plan, Thanksgiving and the list goes on.

I have hardly gotten any scrapbooking done since the beginning of September. This is one of the few things I have done. I did do a batch of Christmas cards that I donated to a raffle but I forgot to photograph them before giving them away. I needed to whip up a quick card for a birthday and this is what I was able to produce in the 20 minutes before the party started!

So my niece turns 6 today, so I quickly whipped up a card to mail to her. I like the bright bold feminine colours. I thought they were perfect for a little girls card. I used the CTMH 'Whoops a Daisy' paper pack. I used the 'Everyday Celebrations' stamp set, and popped the cake up on 3D foam squares.I also used CTMH's pretty pins. The pin is a light pink colour, so not quite right for this card, so I took some liquid glass and mixed it with some watermelon ink and then painted it onto the pin for a bolder look. For this card I used a few non-CTMH items which are the diamond stickles (glitter), The pink ribbon and the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Featured colours:

Winter Play!

Here is a layout I made for my album. It is of me and my two sisters taking pictures of the igloo we built for my two kids. I absolutely love this colour combination and how this layout turned out! I also love these photo's, they capture the essence of winter and sisterhood beautifully.

I paper pieced the 'love this' and 'captured moments' stamps for multi-toned images. To created the green snowflake paper I first sanded the paper and then random stamped the snowflakes on the olive cardstock. I then inked a sponge and swiped it around the edge of my pieces for a soft distressed finish. The punched out olive and sorbet snowflakes were made by a Martha Stewart punch. Everything else used is CTMH product.

Last night I wanted to make the cards in the promotional card kit 'Everyday Celebration'. I love the argyle paper in the kit and wanted to save it to make some layouts with, as I do love argyle and we do wear a lot of it. Since I wanted to save that paper, I substituted it with the new Twitterpated paper from the upcoming CTMH fall/winter catalogue. I think these turned out great! I loved how simple they were to throw together and now I have 16 cards for all different occasions.

A Camping We Will Go

Well we are of to go camping for 10 days, tomorrow morning. It will be great to be outdoors enjoying the fresh air. I can't wait to sit on a beach all afternoon, soaking in the rays and watching the kids play and splash in the water, and sitting around the campfire every night singing silly songs, basking in the fires heat and roasting marshmallows and eating junk food. My kids absolutely love 'mish-meh-woe' time. Last year was the kids first year going camping and they still talk about it, they are very excited to get going. My parents, one sister, aunt, uncle and one cousin are coming as well so it will be great fun. My Dad will have his birthday while we are there, so I thought it was appropriate to make him a camping birthday card. I got the inspiration for this card from a card that Yvette West made.

Today is my younger sister Jacqueline's Birthday. So in honour of her birthday here is the card I created for her last night. I really like that the black gives it a bit of punch and flair. The pink paper flower was stamped in hollyhock to add some fun texture and dimension.

Coffee is the super hero of drinks. It perks us up when we feel drowsy, warms us up when we are cold, brings together old friends, creates new relationships, allows us to take a break and relax, and that is just to name a few. Who doesn't like a good cup of steaming coffee resting in their hands? I know I enjoy mine every morning! I am definitely not a morning person, I am sluggish and grouchy and my one cup in the morning starts to clear the haze. I usually sip it while perusing the Internet, on Sundays however there isn't enough time to do this. I am usually running around getting me and the kids ready for church. I usually get my coffee at church. I find I especially need the coffee when I am in the nursery looking after the babies. I am my church's nursery coordinator, so every year I make the workers a thanks you card for helping out. This year I thought about my morning coffee or lack there of on Sundays and decided that I would make the workers a coffee inspired card, so that they could have their dose of perking up that morning.

I used the paper pack Animal Cookies, since its bright colours are usually associated with young children and are delightful to look at. I wanted the cards to be adult geared, yet still have a hint of childhood in them. I also wanted them to be a unisex card, since we have two boys in our group of volunteers. I think I was able to accomplish this in a simple cute card that everyone can enjoy.

Gear up to Party!

I made this card for my cousin who is turning 3 years old. I LOVE the Robot stamp set the CTMH came out with in the current catalogue! The gear based patterned paper was stamped and sponged to get the affect I wanted. I paper pieced the robot together and impressed a pattern into the foam '3'. To finish off the look I added a few buttons for interest.

Here is a up close look at the 3. To create an impression in the foam, you need a heat gun, a paper piercer, and a stamp image. First you take your foam shape and hold it in place with the paper piercer while you go over the foam shape with your heat gun. When your foam piece turns a bit duller in sheen immediately press the stamp directly onto the foam and hold for a few seconds until the image is held in the foam.

Here is a card using the July Stamp of the Month, 'You've Got Flair'. I made it for my Oma (grandma) who had her birthday last week. This initially was not my favorite stamp set, but after using it I actually like it! This card was so simple to make and very quick too. I like the vibrant colours used in the card, not a combination I would normally go with, but I thought I would

try it on for size.

The coloured 'paisley' stamp is popped up on foam squares.

Here is the baby album I made for my sister, Amy to give to her at her baby shower back in April. She had my nephew Orion (pronounced Or - Ryan like the constellation) on March 5th, 2009. I made this album from the Emporium level 2 paper pack, Emporium Creative Basics paper and lots of extra co-ordinating cardstock. This is the basic order of the album, although I may have confused the order on a few, but you get the basic idea. Before I gave it to my sister I forgot to photograph the very last page, so it is not included here. All items are CTMH unless otherwise stated.

Here is a card I made for one of my very good friends, Michelle. For her birthday a group of us went out for dinner, and had a wonderful time. We got to see the new sparkly bauble on her finger and celebrated the two grand occasions! Here is a few of us at the restaurant, Lindsay, Myself (in yellow), The birthday girl Michelle, and Monica.Here is the delicious cake Monica made! The Restaurant brought it out ablaze with sparklers and sang a little song.

This is the card I made for her birthday. It features the colours:

The Stamp sets used are: Tickled pink, Surprises, Happy Birthday, Argyle Backgrounds and Journaling Jots.

I used the Journaling Jots stamps set to make the Colonial white paper have a graph paper look, by stamping a few rows of lines and then rotating the stamp 90 degrees and stamping again. I used Argyle Background and the White daisy pigment ink to make the 'purple' dotted paper.

Baby Dedication

My Nephew Orion got dedicated last Sunday. It is a tradition similar to the Catholics baby baptism. In a dedication though, you as parents and a church body promise to raise the child in a loving christian environment. We do not baptize the baby since we believe that it is the child's choice to make when he is older, and at that point to be baptized. This is the card I made for my sister Amy her husband Scott and Orion.

The colours used are:

Chocolate

Crystal blue

Heavenly blue

Colonial white

I stamped the dimensional elements 'D' using the 'argyle backgrounds' stamp and coloured it blue by sponging it. I also added a lot of interest by adding a bit of stitching to the card using my sewing machine. To finish off the look I added a few buttons with hemp added through the holes. All product used are CTMH.

Sorry it is so dark, I forgot to take a picture of it until I was already at my sisters house.

Moon Doggie Moments

Back in April I went on a scrapbooking retreat, and this is one of the layouts I created. Time has flown by since then, as it only seem like a few weeks ago. This is one of my favorite 'new' layouts, so I thought I would share it with you. The photo's are of my son Jayden last year on the beach. The paper used to create the layout is Moon Doggie, from the current summer catalogue.

Last week was busy with mine and my son's birthdays. Here is the card that I made for my son. He quite likes dinosaurs, so I thought it was an obvious choice for his card.

This card uses the 'Animal Cookies' paper pack, one of my favorites from the current catalogue. It features the colours:

Spot on backgrounds

I used the new foam numbers from CTMH and took a heating gun to heat the foam shape, and while it was still hot, I pressed the spotted backgrounds stamp into the '3' to imprint dots in the number. The foam shape will shrink in size when heated, so if you are looking to do this technique be sure to have a slightly larger shape then is needed. I also stamped and paper pieced the dinosaur images, then popped them up using foam squares. To finish off the card I sewed on some coordinating buttons, added ric rac ribbon, and sanded the edges of the cardstock.

Well the birth of my blog begins! I love to papercraft, especially scrapbooking and card making. People often ask to see my work, so now it is easy to do so.

I started scrapbooking when a friend invited me to a CM home gathering after I got married. I was brand new to scrapbooking and hadn't seen any other styles of scrapbooking or even really know what it was all about. I created my Wedding album with almost nothing. I used a kitchen knife, healing mat, and a ruler to cut out my straight edged pieces. I only planned to make the one wedding album, as I found it time consuming to come up with idea's for layouts, cut the paper using my crude and limited tools, and figuring out what paper to use.
Now clearly I have come a long way from there. When I became pregnant with my first son I wanted to combine the format of a scrapbook and baby book, so that is what I did. I went and purchased paper, got an actual paper trimmer, and a strap hinge album. Again I was enjoying it but it would take forever to make it all some together (my first pages are laughable now!). When Jordan was a few months old I joined a baby group. There I met two women, and after our baby group ended we began walking at the park. One of the girls, Melanie, mentioned that she sold scrapbooking stuff, I said that I scrapbooked so she brought me a CTMH catalogue. I was highly impressed by the beautiful artwork, and supplies. Melanie and the other women I met at baby group, Cindy, and I began to once a month meet at Melanie's house and she taught us how to use the supplies to create really nice layouts. I began to find my style, although it is still being refined, and discovered what items I like and disliked. I loved how CTMH paper all coordinated so I could pull out a pack and get started. I then discovered the 'recipe' books that CTMH sells and how easy they were to use and how much easier and quicker I was getting things done, and with that 'extra' time I was saving I was able to expand on my skills.
I never planned on stamping, or card making. Stamping involves a lot of supplies, but I slowly worked on getting the basics after I fell in love with the clear stamps and all that you can do with them. Plus the images were so cute, how could I resist! I started card making when I realized that I needed a card the next morning, and the stores were closed by this point. What is a girl to do, I got out my scraps and used them to make a card. Well this turned into a more frequent occurrence, and I found myself having to use scraps to make my card the night before. As I was refining my skills and tastes, I discovered that using only my scraps on cards was limiting so I began to cut a new piece of paper here and there to accommodate and it has just kept growing from there, and now here I am.
A year ago I signed up to be a consultant with Close to my Heart, and frankly I am not sure why I waited so long. I love the company and all of the products. I can’t wait to see what I can create next, with all of my goodies. I’ll post some art work soon, so be sure to stop by again soon!
